THE LAST PARADISE OF BORNEO
National park of Sentarum lake is about 700 km away from Kapuas river front entrance (Pontianak city).
Geographically it's lay on 00 degree 45" - 01 degree 02" North and 111 degree 55" - 112 degree 26" East..
Administratively on the authority of Kapuas Hulu district and belonging to 5 "kecamatan" (resident) of Batang Lupar, Badau, Selimbau, Suhaid, and Jongkong.
Sentarum lake is the second Ramsar site in Indonesia and it was the biggest flowded swam forest in Kalimantan (Borneo) island.
Along ten months in a year (January - June and September - December), Sentarum lake region will flowded by Kapuas river's water and it's become wet field site that more than 120.000 hectares wide.
High tide is about 6 - 14 metres. While in July - August the lakes condition in this site is becoming a dry field.
This National Park has a very attractives and uniques landscapes, nature sites, and Ecosystems. As the water quality and water drives control of Kapuas river watery region; The source of fishery and natural honey of West Borneo province; The Flagship species is Swam Forest Flamingo (ciconia stromi); As a habitates of 147 kinds of mammals, 310 kinds of birds, 266 kinds of fishes and endemics plants of Borneo.; There was 33 kinds of endemics plants and 10 kinds is new species, and 13 kinds of fishes is the new species.
